HOSPITAL TOUR
Reception
As you enter the reception area, you will be greeted by one or more of our staff. Don’t be surprised if other clients strike up a conversation with you. Our clients are friendly, highly motivated, and well-versed in pet health care. The changing seasons give us the urge to decorate our hospital. Even though it is a leading edge hospital, we treat it more as a home and try to give it a warm and welcome atmosphere.
Exam Room One
This is where most of you will meet Dr. V. for the first time. This room is equipped with a hydraulic combination scale and exam table. Your pet gets to ride up and down rather than be forcefully lifted. The white panel on the wall is for viewing radiographs (X-ray images). One of our primary goals at AAES is to help you gain enough information so you are able to take an active part in choosing treatment options for your pet. Dr. V. will review your pet’s radiographs with you. He will show you how they compare with photos from textbooks so you can see for yourself what is normal or not. We do not expect you to blindly accept treatment recommendations just because "the Doctor said so."
Exam Room Two
This room is slightly smaller than Exam One and often serves as a consultation center. This is also where we give Reiki treatments to our human recipients. No, not on the stainless steel table. We have a very cushy massage table for that therapy. We play soft music constantly in our exam rooms. Not loud enough to interfere with conversations but just enough so that humans and other animals may feel more relaxed. Clients often comment that their pets love to come to our hospital. Some first time clients have told us their pets behave better at our hospital than any other practice they have visited.
Radiology
Before you review your pet’s radiographs the pictures have to be taken and this is where that happens. The radiographic system you see was specifically designed for veterinary use. Our highly trained staff can take your pets radiographs with a minimum of stress to your companion. Their expertise permits production of high quality films on the first take. This means your pet is on and off the table in short order and does not need to be exposed to additional radiation due to re-taking poor quality exposures.
Pharmacy
Your pet’s prescriptions are prepared in our pharmacy area. Our pet guardian’s appreciate the convenience of being able to take the appropriate remedies home after the examination is complete. This is far less trouble than the human hospital’s method of writing.
